A browser may be all you need
A customer portal, booking tool, or internal dashboard does not automatically need an app-store release. When people mainly complete tasks at a desk, a well-designed web app can put the workflow within reach through a link. It can still adapt to smaller screens.
Start by describing the task. Who begins it? What information do they need? Where does the result go? A list of these steps is often more useful than choosing a development framework before the work is understood.
When the phone changes the requirements
A field worker taking photos at a job site has different needs from an occasional customer reviewing a quote. Camera use, unreliable connectivity, notifications, and the amount of information saved on the device should all be part of the early discussion.
Treat offline behavior as a set of decisions, not a checkbox. Which actions must work without a connection? What happens when two people change the same record? What should a user see if a file has not uploaded? These questions affect both the interface and the supporting software.
Two interfaces do not have to mean two products
Some businesses need a mobile interface for field staff and a web interface for the office. The important shared part is often the data and the rules governing it. Agree on ownership of records and access before designing each screen independently.
For an early release, choose the smallest combination that proves the workflow. A customer review link may be enough before building a dedicated customer app. A staff dashboard may not need every report on day one.
Bring a task, not just a platform preference
For a useful first conversation, bring an example form, a current spreadsheet with private information removed, and the devices people use. We can then discuss the platform options against real needs.
The decision should leave you with a practical next step: a prototype, an integration check, or a scoped first release. It should not leave you committed to a large build before the essential workflow has been tested.
